International oil prices ascended this morning (19th) as Iran launched retaliatory attacks on Qatar's major energy facilities. May Brent oil futures last leaped 4.23% to US$111.85 per barrel, while April New York oil futures mounted 3.06% to US$99.27 per barrel.

As the US military moves into the next phase of operations against Iran, the US government is considering deploying thousands of troops to bolster its operation in the Middle East, Reuters quoted sources as saying.
