International oil prices have been on sharp swings recently. The Trump administration has requested Israel to cease attacks on Iranian energy facilities, particularly oil infrastructure, the US online media Axios reported, citing people with the knowledge of the matter. The US has asked Israel to notify them in advance of any future strikes on oil facilities in Iran, the report said, quoting an Israeli official. The Trump administration made this request partly because the US plans to cooperate with the Iranian oil industry after the conflict ends, similar to the measures taken by the US towards Venezuela, sources divulged. Another reason is the concern that attacking Iranian oil facilities may provoke Iran to launch large-scale retaliatory attacks on energy facilities in Gulf countries. Trump views the attack on Iranian oil facilities as a "doomsday option", which would only be employed as a last resort if Iran deliberately strikes oil facilities in Gulf countries first.
