European bourses descended in early session today (2nd), since attacks by the US and Israel on Iran sparked a global financial market downturn. Defense and oil stocks elevated, while leisure and banking stocks came under pressure. DJIA futures plunged over 700 points.

The pan-European STOXX 600 fell 12.1 points or 1.9% to 621.75. The UK FTSE 100 fell 111 points or 1% to 10,799. The French CAC 40 lost 174 points or 2% to 8,406. The German DAX slumped 573 points or 2.3% to 24,710. The Spanish IBEX 35 slumped 587 points or 3.2% to 17,773. The Italian FTSE MIB plummeted 1,165 points or 2.5% to 46,043.

In the defense sector, BAE Systems soared 6.1%. Thales and Leonardo spiked 4.5% and 3.5%. In the oil sector, Equinor surged 6.4%. Repsol rallied 4.8%. Shell and TotalEnergies jumped up 4.2% and 4%. In the shipping sector, Maersk swelled 4.5%, and Hapag-Lloyd jumped up 4.6%.

As to US stock futures, DJIA futures collapsed 761 points or 1.6% to 48,239. S&P 500 futures dropped 109 points or 1.6% to 6,780. Nasdaq 100 futures stumbled 491 points or 2% to 24,515.
