The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) laid out today (5th) a forecast at an industry development seminar, predicting that China's new solar installations this year will reach 180-240 gigawatts (GW). Compared to last year's record high of 315 GW, this implies a YoY hike of 23.8-42.9%.

This data was disclosed by a CPIA's advisor, Wang Bohua, based on a comprehensive assessment of prevailing policy support, industry chain capacity, and market demand. It is expected that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period (2026-2030), the annual average new installations will be 238-287 GW, sustaining a high growth trend.

The growth was mainly driven by the advancement of dual carbon goals, acceleration of large-scale base construction, continuous penetration of distributed photovoltaics, and optimization of the electricity tariff mechanism, Wang explained.

In recent two days, the concept of space solar has once again ignited the market, propelled by related inspection of Elon Musk's team, according to Jiemian.com, citing Liu Yiyang, Executive Secretary-General of the CPIA.

Liu emphasized that regardless of how any technological route evolves, truly reaching implementation requires a premise of mature, replicable high-efficiency manufacturing capabilities and a long-term reliability verification system.
