Swedish home furnishing giant IKEA announced that it will cease operations at seven offline stores in Baoshan of Shanghai, Panyu of Guangzhou, Zhongbei of Tianjin, Nantong, Xuzhou, Ningbo, and Harbin starting February 2, in a bid to deepen local transformation and build a more resilient growth foundation After the store closures, consumers can still visit other IKEA stores in the same city or purchase products and services through its official website, app, WeChat mini-program, Tmall, and JD flagship stores across all channels, IKEA stated. In the next two years, IKEA plans to open more than ten small stores in mainland China, with the Dongguan store set to open in February and the Tongzhou, Beijing store expected to debut in April.
