CN Hotel Booking Vol. Surges 3x+ on 1st Day of New Yr's Day Holiday

Driven by the demand for vacations and family visit & hometown return, as well as a variety of New Year's Eve activities, hotel booking enthusiasm in mainland China on the first day of the New Year's Day holiday surged by over 3x from the same period last year, according to data released by Tongcheng Travel. On the first day of the 2026 New Year's Day holiday, air ticket volume to popular destinations grew by 26% YoY, while hotel occupancy in popular regions rallied by 1.2x, data from Qunar.com shows. Travelers flew to 698 cities domestically and internationally, staying in hotels in over 200 cities in mainland China and more than 800 cities abroad.
