SMIC (00981.HK) raised prices on some of its production capacity by about 10%, according to multiple sources confirmed by the Shanghai Securities News. Other companies also revealed that the price increase is expected to be executed soon. Wafer foundries reportedly hiked prices for related products because the prices of stored products were previously too low. Besides, the sustained growth in demand from mobile applications and AI fueled demand for wafer fabrication kits, thus boosting overall semiconductor product demand. In light of robust demand, SMIC and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) in fact saw their capacity utilization rates continue to grow, approaching or exceeding full capacity, report added.
