The HSI inched up 5 points or 0.02% to 25,780 in the half-day session today (24th). The HSCEI gained 8 points or 0.09% to 8,922. The HSTECH picked up 3 points or 0.07% to 5,492.

It is reported that SMIC (00981.HK) has implemented price hikes of about 10% for some production capacity, boosting tis share price by 2.1%, making it the best-performing blue chip. Its peer HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) jumped up 1.5%.

Techs broadly weakened, with TENCENT (00700.HK) dropping 0.7%. BABA-W (09988.HK) lost 0.1% amid reports that BABA-W launched 'Qianwen Zhixue' to boost its AI education efforts.

JD-SW (09618.HK) slid 0.2% on rumors that its French warehouse was burglarized, involving digital equipment worth RMB340 million. JD-SW responded that the reported loss figure significantly deviates from actual circumstances. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) cascaded 0.3% and 0.4%. However, NTES-S (09999.HK) elevated 1.2%.

Gold futures rose above the US$4,500 mark. Gold miners prospered. ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) leaped 1.4%, while ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) ballooned 1.3%.
