China's State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced at a press conference that it will soon release regulations to supervise and manage the implementation of food safety responsibilities by livestream e-commerce operators, tightening the regulation of these operators in the food safety field.

The regulations will address different situations involving livestream marketers. For example, the regulations require them to establish and implement food safety management systems and strict product selection procedures; establish pre-compliance review mechanisms and food sampling and inspection management systems; and release food-related information truthfully, comprehensively and accurately. They also prohibit the sale of food that does not comply with laws, regulations, or food safety standards through livestreaming platforms.
