In view of the risk of potential fire hazards brought about by electric mobility devices to railway safety, upon prudent risk assessment, MTR CORPORATION (00066.HK) will prohibit passengers from carrying electric mobility devices on MTR premises with effect from 1 January 2026, as announced by MTR CORPORATION.

Currently, the MTR By-laws, the Mass Transit Railway (North-west Railway) By-laws and the Conditions of Carriage of Luggage prohibit passengers to use electric mobility devices, including electric bicycles, electric unicycles, electric scooters, electric hoverboards, electric skateboards and electric suitcases, etc. on MTR premises, MTR CORPORATION added. Passengers with disabilities using electric wheelchairs are exempt from this regulation.

Under the new regulation, except for electric wheelchairs used by passengers with disabilities, all passengers will be prohibited from carrying electric mobility devices on MTR premises.
