Republicans in the US House of Representatives are calling on Congress to regulate AI chip exports in a manner similar to foreign military sales. Previously, US President Donald Trump approved Nvidia (NVDA.US)'s export of its H200 chips to China. Brian Mast, the Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has introduced an AI regulation bill called the AI Overwatch Act. This bill requires Congress to be notified of any AI chip sales to adversarial nations, and any product with performance equal to or greater than Nvidia's H20 chip would fall under this regulation.
