Hong Kong stocks opened lower this morning (15th), mirroring the trend of external market. The HSI opened 258 points lower, or 1%, at 25,718; the HSCEI opened 99 points lower, or 1.1%, at 8,980; and the HSTECH opened 75 points lower, or 1.3%, at 5,562. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) proposed to privatize HANG SENG BANK (00011.HK) for HK$155 per share, with a vote slated for January 8. HSBC HOLDINGS opened 0.8% lower at HK$116.4, while HANG SENG BANK opened at HK$153.2, up 0.1%. In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK) and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) opened 2.1% and 3.1% lower, respectively. TENCENT (00700.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) opened 1.6-1.7% lower. NTES-S (09999.HK) opened 1.2% lower. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) opened 0.8% and 0.6% lower, respectively; and JD HEALTH (06618.HK) opened 5.9% lower.
