Volkswagen to Roll Out 1st Car Model Created with XPENG-W in Anhui by End-Dec, Equip 4 Cars with CEA Architecture Starting 2026

Frank Han, Volkswagen Group (China) Executive Vice President and CARIAD China CEO, recently revealed that the group's R&D decision-making was centered in Germany previously, with local teams mainly supporting development. Starting this year, however, decision-making in key areas such as overall new energy vehicle development, platform development, electronic and electrical architecture, and software development has shifted to the Chinese team, granting significant autonomy to the China region. Han also mentioned that the first vehicle developed in collaboration with XPENG-W (09868.HK) and featuring the CEA architecture will be rolled out in Anhui on December 31, 2025. As CEA architecture 1.0 quickly addresses Volkswagen Group's shortcomings in the electronic and electrical architecture domain, he disclosed that starting next year, there will be four vehicles featuring the CEA architecture.
