Death Toll from Wang Fuk Court Fire Elevates to 94

The death toll from the No.5-alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po elevated to 94, with casualties mainly concentrated in Wang Cheong House and Wang Tai House, including a firefighter who died in the line of duty, according to the RTHK. As of 5 a.m. in early morning (28th), among the 78 injured, 12 were in critical condition, 28 seriously injured, 16 stable, and 22 discharged. Several bodies believed to be deceased were transported from the estate to hearses early this morning. Firefighting efforts were still ongoing, and as of nearly 6 a.m., individual units were still emitting flames. The fire department deployed multiple drones to inspect and monitor the fire situation from above the estate. Firefighters continue to enter units on floors where the fire was extinguished. The Fire Services Department stated that they will continue to handle the remaining 25 assistance cases and expected to complete the door-to-door search of all units in the seven buildings by 9 a.m. Several nearby community halls and sports centers have been opened as temporary shelters. Many citizens have voluntarily gathered at the platform of Kwong Fuk Estate to help distribute supplies, handing out donated food, daily necessities, and clothing from various groups and individuals to those in need.
