CN Aug Domestic Handset Shipments Drop 6% YoY, 5G Phones Rise 1.2%: CAICT

In August, China's domestic handset shipments dropped by 6% YoY to 22.603 million units, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). Among them, 5G phones rose by 1.2% to 19.992 million units, accounting for 88.4% of the total handset shipments during the same period. There were 65 new mobile phone models launched domestically, a growth of 32.7%. 31 of them were 5G models, unchanged from the same period last year, accounting for 47.7% of the new models launched during the same period.
