The HSI ended the day down 53 points or 0.2% at 25,122. The HSCEI fell 27 points or 0.3% to close at 9,006. The HSTECH slipped 37 points or 0.7%, closing at 5,542. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD278.213 billion. In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) inched down 0.1-0.6%. TENCENT (00700.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) added 0.9% and 0.4%, respectively. NTES-S (09999.HK) dropped 1.3%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) fell over 3%, and chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) tumbled 4.9%. Additionally, WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) and XD INC (02400.HK) mushroomed 6.2% and 3.7%. Handset component stock BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) slipped 4.7%. MEITU (01357.HK) ebbed 1.6%, even though its interim net profit soared more than 30% YoY. EAST BUY (01797.HK) once surged 23.8% to HKD53.7 after midday, but it turned south sharply near the market close. It eventually crossed the finish line down 20.9%, with a turnover of nearly HKD9.4 billion. Its market value also sank from about HKD50.3 billion at midday to HKD35.9 billion at the close. NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) slid over 2%. Among car makers, XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) lost 1.2%. It is set to release its results after the market close. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) edged up 0.3%. XPENG-W (09868.HK) received a RMB10 billion credit line from CITIC BANK (00998.HK), but its stock price eroded 1.8%. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) ticked up 3.2%. LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) turned losses into a profit of RMB33.03 million in 1H25. Brokers lifted their target prices and sales forecasts for the company, elevating its stock price by 7.6%.
