Seeing that the competition among Chinese food delivery platforms was heating up to an intense level, China's State Administration for Market Regulation held talks with Ele.me, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and JD.com JD-SW (09618.HK) last Friday (18th). According to Chinese media reports, Shanghai's market regulation authorities have simultaneously held discussions with food delivery platforms like Ele.me, demanding the complete removal of "zero-yuan purchase" promotional activities. It is understood that the three major food delivery platforms have already implemented three rectification measures, including a complete end to "zero-yuan purchase' promotions, sharply reducing the scope of free order marketing, and establishing a special task force to enhance activity monitoring, price control, and rider rights protection, while strengthening social supervision and information transparency.
