As the world's largest supplier and exporter of rare earth magnets, China enforced export controls on seven types of medium and heavy rare earth elements and several magnets in early April, requiring exporters to obtain licenses.

China introduced a traceability system for the domestic rare earth magnet industry, requiring manufacturers to submit more information online, including transaction volumes and customer names, Reuters quoted people familiar with the matter. This nationwide traceability system became effective last week.
