The US has threatened to impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese exports to the US from next Tuesday (March 4) on the grounds of fentanyl. A spokesperson from China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) responded that China has already taken note of the situation. China has repeatedly stated that unilateral tariffs violate WTO rules and undermine the multilateral trading system. China reaffirms its firm objection to such practice. As one of the countries with the strictest anti-drug policies as well as the most thorough anti-drug enforcement in the world, China is actively engaging in international anti-drug cooperation with countries worldwide, including the US. However, the US has insisted on disregarding objective facts. Previously, it imposed a 10% additional tariff on China on the pretext of fentanyl and other reasons, and now it is threatening to impose tariffs again. This behavior is nothing but "shifting blame", which not only does nothing to resolve its own issues but also makes the burden heavier on American businesses and consumers while disrupting the stability of global industrial chains. China hopes the US will not persist in its mistaken approach and will promptly return to the right path of resolving differences properly through equal dialogue. AAStocks Financial News |
