WeChat Mini Shops concept stocks continued to surge this morning. WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) soared by 22% to $3.03, and EAST BUY (01797.HK) leaped by 4.5% to $18.1, while TENCENT (00700.HK) dipped nearly 0.2%.

Chinese broker AVIC Securities released a report saying that with Tencent's WeChat beginning the grayscale test for the "Gifting" feature on December 17, a "Support Gifting" entry is now displayed on the product details page. Products outside the categories of jewelry and education training with a price under RMB10,000 will automatically enable the "Support Gifting" entry.

Based on previous experience with WeChat's "Red Pocket Snatching" launch, AVIC Securities noted that the demand for "Gifting" is relatively rigid, and completing the process on a social platform is more convenient. Leveraging WeChat's inherent massive traffic, players within the WeChat e-commerce ecosystem are expected to usher in a new period of development dividends.

In addition, with Tencent's ongoing AI deployment, the AI e-commerce scenarios within the WeChat ecosystem are anticipated to stimulate greater consumer demand. The broker was optimistic about three types of companies that may directly benefit, namely e-commerce SaaS companies or operating agencies, advertising agencies within the WeChat domain, and brands that have opened WeChat Mini Shops with gifting capabilities.
