A number of HK-listed companies announced their quarterly results. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK), with its first-quarter results in line and share buyback increased to US$3 billion, surged 2.2% to $67. The company announced that the CEO Noel Quinn will retire and the bank already started the succession process and will consider internal and external candidates.

CCB (00939.HK), ICBC (01398.HK), ABC (01288.HK) and BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK) reported first-quarter net profit fall of 1.6%-2.9% and announced interim dividends. CCB and ICBC rose 0.6% and 0.7%, while ABC and BOC fell 1.7% and 2.8%. CM BANK (03968.HK) saw its first-quarter net profit fall 2%, while its shares sank 1.7%. BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) announced that its first-quarter operating profit before impairment charges hiked 22%, while its shares gained 1.5%.

For techs, TENCENT (00700.HK) dipped 0.1%. BABA-SW (09988.HK) closed flat at $74.35. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) gained 1.4%. NTES-S (09999.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) sagged less than 1%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) shrank 1.7% and 2.7%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) lifted 0.8%. Autostocks LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) shot up more than 2%.
