MO Records 8.884M Visitor Arrivals in 1Q24, Recovering to 84.8% of 1Q19

The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced that according to provisional figures from the Public Security Police, there were about 8.884 million visitor arrivals in Macau in 1Q24, of which 6.3 million were from the Mainland, 1.818 million from Hong Kong and 182,000 from Taiwan, and 585,000 were international arrivals. Overall visitor arrivals rose 79.6% YoY, equivalent to 84.8% in the same period in 2019.

Xi'an and Qingdao have been included in the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) for Hong Kong and Macau since 6 March this year. Macau recorded 47,000 and 24,000 visitor arrivals from Xi'an and Qingdao respectively in 1Q24, representing increases of 6.4% and 44.5% respectively over 2019. Macau plans to organise Macau Week in Xi'an in 2H24 to further promote the desire of visitors from these 2 cities to visit Macau.

According to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), as of the end of February, there were 46,481 guest rooms in operation in Macau. The average occupancy rate of hotel venues from January to February also reached 85.8%. Average daily occupancy was over 42,000, representing an increase of 8.8% over the average daily occupancy of the same period in 2019.
