MIIT: CN Builds 3.64M+ 5G Base Stations as of End-Mar, To Expedite 6G R&D

As of the end of March, the number of 5G base stations built in China totaled 3.647 million, the penetration rate of 5G users surpassed 60%, and ports with Gigabit network service capability reached 24.56 million, while the world's first 400G all-optical inter-provincial backbone network link officially became commercially available, Zhao Zhiguo, spokesperson and chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said at a press conference of the State Council Information Office.

The MIIT will focus on the primary task of high-quality development to further consolidate and enhance the competitive advantages and leading position of the information and communications industry. It will also accelerate the evolution of 5G by promoting the integration of 5G with various technologies such as big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
